Why CAL - Compouter Aided Learning
Today, computing power is no longer a limitation for implementation of learning tools. The problem has moved from how to implement to what tools to implement and why. One of the newest branches of computer application is Computer Aided Learning or CAL. Computer Aided Learning is not a new phenomena, it had been induct since 60’s.
This field of education has been growing since the introduction of computers into the learning environment. Starting with the humble digital textbook, CAL has moved into the realm of creating learning environments, where the participant has the ability and necessary tools to produce their own learning paths and outcomes. CAL systems will help smart adaptive trainers that will adapt themselves to learner’s features and propose the best method of teaching. Yet, there are more remote learning and video conferencing instead of today’s traditional teaching method.
The potential of uses and advantages for CAL is great. Nowadays, some school provided laptops to encouraged teachers use it for edutainment (educational entertainment) computer-based learning for introducing new concepts to students. The use of computers in is basically vision able as a teaching and learning aid besides to develop computer literacy amongst the children.
Computer aided learning will help us to make the present teaching learning process joyful, interesting and easy to understand through audio-visual aids. Teachers will be resourced with Multimedia Contents to explain topics better. Furthermore, CAL system also provides feedback about learning performance related to how the information is presented.
Overall it will help us to improve quality of education in long learn.
